Small increase in new COVID-19 cases reported Tuesday in Kane County

No additional Kane County deaths reported

Illinois public officials on Tuesday reported 190 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and no new deaths.

Kane County has now seen 46,063 total cases of the virus and 631 people have died. That’s a small increase from the 163 new cases reported Monday.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen zero days under 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 8.2%. Currently, 34% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 9.0%, and DuPage County is at 7.8%.

Hospitalizations have decreased six out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 4,318 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 33 additional deaths Tuesday. The IDPH received the results of 71,533 tests leading up to Tuesday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 5.7%.

Illinois now has seen 1,076,532 total cases of the virus, and 18,291 people have died.
