Illinois public officials on Monday reported 169 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and one new death, a woman in her 40s. That’s a decrease from the 211 cases reported Sunday.

Kane County has now seen 45,873 total cases of the virus and 631 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 8.7%. Currently, 19% of medical/surgical beds are available and 31% of ICU beds.

The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and two consecutive days under the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 9.7%, and DuPage County is at 8.2%.

Hospitalizations have decreased seven out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 3,385 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 50 additional deaths Monday. The IDPH received the results of 63,002 tests leading up to Monday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 5.9%.

Illinois now has seen 1,072,214 total cases of the virus, and 18,258 people have died.
