Fewer than 200 new cases reported in Kane County

Illinois public officials on Saturday reported 193 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and eight new deaths, a man in his 50s, a man in his 60s, a woman in her 70s, a man in his 70s, two women in their 80s, a woman in her 90s and a man in his 90s. The new case total is a decrease from the 273 new cases reported Friday.

Kane County has now seen 45,493 total cases of the virus and 630 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 9.4%. Currently, 15.5% of medical/surgical beds are available and 24.7% of ICU beds.

The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and three consecutive days under the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 10.5%, and DuPage County is at 8.8%.

Hospitalizations have decreased eight out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 5,343 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 130 additional deaths Saturday. The IDPH received the results of 102,372 tests leading up to Saturday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 6.3%.

Illinois now has seen 1,064,667 total cases of the virus, and 18,179 people have died.
