Healing Gardens in St. Charles sprouts more access by appointment

ST. CHARLES – Healing Gardens, a 2-acre expanse of woodland and perennial gardens at Stone Hill Farm off Dean Street in St. Charles, today announced the gardens will be open now to anyone who needs a nature boost in response to the pandemic.

To arrange a special visit, text, which is preferable, or call Deborah Marqui at 630-740-2597.

The gardens are in the process of being readied for the 2021 season, however, all are welcome to schedule a visit to experience the arrival of spring in the gardens and wooded area, a news release stated. There is no charge, but a donation would be appreciated.

Save the date

Mark your calendars for the annual perennial sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 8. At the sale, as in every event, social distancing guidelines will be followed. As they are dug, plants for sale will be listed on the website at www.healinggardensatstonehillfarm.com.

Official season start

The 2021 season officially will begin from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 9, on Mother’s Day. And in honor of Mother’s Day, while they last, a free perennial plant will be given to each mother.

The gardens normally are open to the public on set dates. The admission cost is $5 per person and $10 per family; call for discounted group rates. In solidarity with cancer survivors, admission is always free for them.

Donations of time or money for upkeep are welcome. Healing Gardens is cultivated and hosted by Deborah Marqui, owner of Stone Hill Farm with her husband, Buzz Marqui.

“Ms. Marqui, who is cancer-free from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma since 1996 and in remission from breast cancer since 2002, finds great restoration of spirit in her gardens and property and wants to share that with the public for their own rejuvenation,” the release stated.
