Norris resumes Saturday Night Concert Series at Baker Community Center; lectures also returning

The Norris Cultural Arts Center will resume live, in-person events with a concert by a popular local Irish band, The Ragged Rascals, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at its home-away-from-home venue, the historic Baker Community Center in downtown St. Charles.

One of the Chicago area’s longest-established Irish folk bands, The Ragged Rascals performs authentic Irish folk songs, street ballads, rebel and drinking songs, sea shanties and other traditional music in the style of The Clancy Brothers, Dubliners, Chieftans and Irish Rovers.

“Prepare for a rousing evening of Irish-inspired entertainment,” organizers stated in a news release.

Next up is the return of the Wednesdays @ One presentations, launching with a program on the influenza pandemic of 1918. It will be presented at 1 p.m. April 7 at the Baker Center, by Lindsay Judd, executive director of the St. Charles History Museum. Admission is free, but guests register to attend through a link at the Norris website. Seating is limited and socially distanced.
