Hockey: Chicago Steel sweeps Muskegon, advances to Clark Cup final

The Chicago Steel advanced to the final of the Clark Cup Playoffs for the third time in the last four seasons, sealing a two-game sweep of the Muskegon Lumberjacks with a 5-4 win on Saturday night at Mercy Health Arena in Michigan.

The Steel were outshot 31-30 in the win but held the Lumberjacks to just five shots in the final period. Adam Fantilli scored the first and last goals of the game, giving the Steel rookie four goals in as many playoff games. Matt Coronato added two goals in the win, giving him six goals for the playoffs. Erik Middendorf tallied his second goal of the postseason and Mackie Samoskevich had three assists.

Simon Latkoczy made 27 saves in goal for his fourth consecutive victory.

In the Western Conference Final, Fargo defeated Sioux City 3-0 to secure a 2-0 series sweep, advancing to the Clark Cup Final to face off against the Steel.
