Junior Lili McClain has been one of the St. Bede girls basketball team’s top offensive weapons this season.
That was no different during the Tri-County Conference Tournament, as McClain came up big to help the Bruins repeat as champions.
McClain scored 16 points in St. Bede’s upset win over No. 1-seeded Seneca in the semifinals, then scored 19 points to help the Bruins beat Marquette in the title game.
“Lili played a key part in St. Bede winning the TCC championship,” St. Bede coach Tom Ptak said. “She is our go-to person on the offensive end and rarely comes off the floor. She averaged 14.3 points in the tournament and was 23 of 27 from the charity stripe. She also grabbed 14 rebounds. Lili has a feel for the game, and I’m glad she’s being recognized. She deserves it.”
For her performance, McClain was voted the NewsTribune Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Sullivan’s and Grasser’s Plumbing & Heating.
