Nine area players were named to the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association All-State teams for their respective classes in 4A, 5A and 6A, which were announced Tuesday.

In Class 6A, Cary-Grove offensive lineman-linebacker Zach Petko and quarterback Jameson Sheehan were selected, along with Crystal Lake Central quarterback Colton Madura and Prairie Ridge offensive-defensive lineman Jack Schnoor.

Burlington Central running back-linebacker Gavin Sarvis was named to the Class 5A team.

And in Class 4A, Richmond-Burton fullback-linebacker Brock Wood, Marengo quarterback Josh Holst, Marian Central offensive-defensive lineman Luke Dalton and Johnsburg offensive lineman Jacob Welch were chosen to the team.

Petko and Sheehan have helped C-G (12-0) to the Class 6A playoff semifinals, where it hosts Lake Forest (10-2) at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Wood has been a standout on both sides for R-B (12-0), which hosts Joliet Catholic (12-0) at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Madura was a dynamic playmaker for Central, who missed three games, yet still was among the area passing and rushing leaders and led the Tigers to the Class 6A quarterfinals.

Schnoor, who will play at NCAA Division II Minnesota State, was a third-year starter for the Wolves’ Class 6A quarterfinal team.

Sarvis was Burlington Central’s best player on offense and defense as the Rockets finished 3-6.

Dalton (6-foot-5, 290 pounds) committed to Cincinnati in August and played on both lines for the 4-5 Hurricanes.

Holst, a junior, threw for 2,005 yards and 20 touchdowns for the 5-5 Indians. He finished second in the area in passing yardage.

Welch (6-6, 290) is receiving D-I attention and has started since his freshman season for the Skyhawks.
