COVID-19 quarantine cancels Harvard’s game with Rochelle

The Rochelle at Harvard football game set for 7 p.m. Friday at Dan Horne Field has been canceled as Harvard is under a COVID-19 quarantine.

Rochelle (2-2, 1-1 Kishwaukee River/Insterstate 8 Blue Division) could look for another opponent, but also can receive a win via forfeit by the IHSA rules this season. Harvard is 1-3, 0-1.

Hornets coach Sean Saylor said that all levels are affected and thinks it will be the standard two-week quarantine, which also would wipe out next Friday’s game at Plano.

“The kids are heartbroken,” Saylor said. “But there is a lesson that things can be worse and we can overcome, again.”

Harvard is the first McHenry County team to lose a game to a COVID-19 quarantine this fall season.
