Ethan Wilnau scored on the first two Genoa-Kingston possessions as the Cogs rolled at home past Rockford Lutheran, 35-6.

Wilnau scored on runs of 39 and 3 yards for the Cogs (2-0, 2-0) as they built a 14-0 lead.

“He did a good job,” coach Cam Davekos said. “Really it all started up front with the offensive line. They brought a physicality and opened lanes for him to weave through. He did a nice job of seeing the field and make cuts to take it to the house.”

Chase Engel scored on runs of 59 and 3 yards and the Cogs with both six carries and 101 yards. Nolan Perry had a 26-yard run on a quarterback keeper to cap the scoring in the third. Colton Halter had a 72-yard run late in the game that let the Cogs go into victory formation inside the Crusaders’ 10.

Through two weeks, G-K has outscored its opponents 61-9.

“I’ll tell you what we are flying around [on defense], making sure we get off the block and making sure we bring the physicality,” Davekos said “We just make sure we have the warm mentality each and every play and the kids have done a great job.”

The Cogs travel to Poplar Grove in Week 3 to take on North Boone.
