Sterling’s Noel Aponte to play at McKendree

Sterling senior Noel Aponte announced on social media his plan to continue his football career at McKendree University.

In the six-game spring 2021 season, Aponte had 95 carries for 655 yards and 10 touchdowns – all tops in the area – for the Golden Warriors, playing running back for the first five games and quarterback in Week 6.

As a junior, Aponte had 129 carries for 806 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2019.

McKendree played two games in the spring of 2021, beating Quincy 30-8 and losing to the Indianapolis Greyhounds 51-23. In 2019, the Bearcats went 5-6.
