Woodstock North football is quarantined; Marengo picks up Marian Central for Week 5

Marengo will play a Woodstock school in football on Friday, just not the one everyone initially thought it would be.

Woodstock North has players quarantined for COVID-19 and had to cancel for Friday. Marengo picked up a game with Marian Central, which had an open date for Week 5.

Marengo (3-1) will play host to Marian (2-2) at 7 p.m. Friday at Rod Poppe Fields.

District 200′s statement on North read as follows: “Due to school contract tracing from COVID-19 related cases, the varsity football team is not playing this week because several players are in quarantine. Depending on how the process develops, Woodstock North’s coaching staff hopes the COVID-related issues will be resolved in time to allow the Thunder to play its final game of the season on April 23.”

The Kishwaukee River Conference has the last week of its season set up for placement games: Nos. 1 vs. 2, 3 vs. 4 and 5 vs. 6.

Marengo and Marian Central have not played in football since 1996. Marengo won that nonconference matchup in Week 2, 10-9.
