Last matchup: Prairie Ridge defeated C-G, 42-7, in Week 8 last season. The two played a much different game in the Class 6A playoff quarterfinals, with Prairie Ridge holding on for a 14-13 victory.

About the Wolves: Prairie Ridge dropped to No. 8 in The Associated Press Class 6A poll after its 14-13 overtime loss to Crystal Lake Central. … The Wolves have a balanced rushing attack with RB Tyler Vasey (261 yards), QB Taidhgin Trost (238) and FB Carter Evans (213). … The two teams have four Class 6A state titles since 2009 and eight title game appearances since that time. … Prairie Ridge has won five of the last six meetings, but most of the games were close.

About the Trojans: C-G is ranked No. 2 in Class 6A, but has only been able to play its opener because of COVID-19 quarantine the last two weeks. … FB Nick Hissong had a big day in the opener, a 28-20 victory over Burlington Central, with 183 rushing yards and three touchdowns. RB Wade Abrams ran for 79 yards and caught a 30-yard pass in that game.

About the Warriors: McHenry lost to Prairie Ridge and Huntley, and did not play in Week 2 because C-G was under COVID-19 quarantine. … QB Andrew Hoffman has thrown for 248 yards. WR Matt Gallimore caught three passes for 99 yards and a touchdown last week.

About the Tigers: Central is coming off one of its biggest victories in years, a 14-13 overtime win against Prairie Ridge. It was the first time the Tigers had beaten the Wolves since 2012. … Central is No. 10 in The Associated Press Class 6A poll this week. … The defense was outstanding against a highly productive Prairie Ridge offense, limiting the Wolves to 142 total yards and five first downs. … QB Colton Madura ran for 119 yards and threw for 140, with a pair of touchdown passes to WR Jacob Carnrite. His 7-yard TD toss to Carnrite in overtime, along with Jake Coss’ extra point, was the game-winner.

About the Golden Eagles: First-year Jacobs coach Brian Zimmerman got his first varsity victory last week, 47-12, against Dundee-Crown. … RB Ben Ludlum is third on the area rushing list with 329 and ran for four touchdowns last week. … RB Nasir Canty has 137 yards rushing.
