Friday Night Drive’s Power Rankings: Week 4

The No. 1 team in the Friday Night Drive Power Rankings lost its Week 3 contest, but had a legitimate case to not actually lose its perch at the top of the rankings.

In the end, East St. Louis dropped to No. 2 after losing to St. John Bosco (Calif.) on Friday night. The Flyers dug a pretty good hole against the No.-3 ranked team nationally then made a great accounting of itself in the second half showing that very much belonged on the same field.

The reason there was a little bit of a wrestle with whether or not East St. Louis shouldn’t simply stay on top of the poll was it could easily be argued that no one else on this list would fare any better if they challenged themselves in the same fashion.

Loyola, however, is the team that has looked the most dominant in winning each of its first three games against quality opponents. The Rambles move into the top spot this week.

The lone newcomer this week is Homewood-Flossmoor. The Vikings have quietly gone about their business in the nonconference portion of their schedule with three wins, but their league schedule starts with a bang this week as No. 18 Lockport comes to town.
