Duffy: Appreciating summer more than usual after COVID-19 pandemic

Each year many of us look forward to summer and what it offers – nice weather, live music outdoors, festivals, parades, baseball/softball, swimming pools and so much more.

This year, I think we’ll all appreciate it even more than usual.

Having some of these taken away from us last year and being limited throughout the past nearly 16 months now have us appreciating these things a little more this summer.

Shopping for fresh produce, fresh baked goods, hidden gems, live music and a chance to enjoy lunch outdoors with friends are all a part of the DeKalb Farmers’ Market experience. It’s back in full swing this summer every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Van Buer Plaza in downtown DeKalb.

Matt Duffy is the executive director for DeKalb Chamber of Commerce.
