Halftime update: Wyoming 28, NIU 10

DeKALB — Wyoming raced out at Huskie Stadium Saturday, scoring the first points and leading 28-10 at halftime

Key play: NIU had started to move the ball, and trailed 14-3 with the ball but in bad field position. On a third-and-8, Rocky Lombardi tried to fire a pass into Cole Tucker, but it instead was picked by Rome Weber. Wyoming scored two plays later and led 21-3 with 12:21 left in the second quarter.

Key stat: At one point, Wyoming had outrushed NIU 82-0. The Cowboys held a 119-52 advantage at the break.

Key to the second half: NIU is going to need a total transformation in the second half in every facet of the game if it’s going to be competitive, let alone pull out a win. It can start on the offensive side by getting the run game going – there was a 52-yard direct snap to Clint Ratkovich, but perhaps more consistent rushing – which should help with the turnovers.
