RAMP receives grant for access to services

DeKALB – RAMP recently received a $3,000 grant from the DeKalb County Community Foundation to help improve access for people with disabilities to be able to use RAMP’s Independent Living Services safely, in person or in a hybrid remote manner.

When the pandemic hit last spring, RAMP had to make some swift changes and find creative solutions to serve individuals with disabilities through its existing programs and services while also addressing the emergent needs of consumers.

When schools were forced to shut down due to COVID-19 restrictions, students with disabilities, many who thrive on structure and support, were threatened by new challenges and at greater risk of falling behind.

The lack of peer support and in-person interactions also brought concerns of social isolation. RAMP will be better able to respond to the needs of the community in the future with the help of the grant.
