Daily Chronicle 2021 Boys Soccer All-Area Team

Player of the year: Miles Guiborat, sr., F, Sycamore

All area first-team

Eagan Reams, jr., F, Genoa-Kingston - Reams scored 24 goals in making the Big Northern Conference’s first-team. He added five assists and as a junior already has the school’s career scoring record with 66.

Jorge Leon, soph., F, Genoa-Kingston - With Reams, gives the Cogs a potent top of the lineup, as he scored 19 times and added 16 assists. He set the school record with 41 single-season goals last year, and his assists this year were the second-most in a single season.

Drew Gaston, sr., F, Indian Creek - Gaston scored 28 goals and added 10 assits to cap a career in which he set the school record for goals in a game (seven) season (46) and career (121). He also helped the Timberwolves to their first regional title in 2019 and first regular-season conference title this year.

Lucas Bass, jr., F, Kaneland - Bass put up 24 goals this year, scoring in every Interstate 8 game the Knights played this season. His speed and ball-handling abilities helped him lead the team in scoring.

Isaak Cordova, sr., F/MF, DeKalb - The Barbs played just 10 matches this year, and Cordova was able to put up six goals and four assists. He was a unanimous first-team selection in the DuPage Valley Conference.

Alec Garcia, jr., MF, Sycamore - Garcia put up 11 goals and 13 assists this year, putting his career tally at 29 goals and 27 assists with one year still left to play. Coach Dave Bachta called him a technically gifted player with both pace and a competitive presence.

Ilir Redzepi, sr., MF, DeKalb - Redzepi was a first-team selection in the DVC, scoring three times and adding three assists. Two of those assists came during DVC play.

John Hernandez, sr., D, DeKalb - Hernandez turned his size, strength and speed into becoming a lock-down defender for the Barbs. He was a first-team selection in the DVC.

Davis Stryker, sr., D, Indian Creek - Stryker scored three times and had four assists. Coach Eric Schrader called him one of the best defenders he’s ever seen.

Braden Nigg, sr., D, Kaneland - A key element on the Knights’ backline, the senior ended up scoring once and notching three assists. Coach Scott Parillo said Nigg is steady, does not get flustered and keeps everyone calm on the field.

Jaycob Sears, sr., GK, Sycamore - The two-year varsity player allowed six goals this year, two of those were on penalty kicks, for a goals-against average of 0.46 this season. He’s committed to play at Loras next year.
