High school sports roundup for Friday, April 16

Cameron Russell won the 400-meter dash (55.12 seconds) and triple jump (12.4 meters) and added a runner-up finish in the 200 dash for host Indian Creek in its boys track meet Friday.

The Timberwolves won the meet with 105 points, comfortably ahead of Newark (46) and Earlville (15).

Lucas Woodbury won the 200 in 24.42, beating Russell (25.50), and captured the 100 in 11.49. The Timberwolves got other field-event wins from Aidan Sawyer (discus, 36-0m), David Negrete (shot put, 11-6m), TJ Springer (pole vault, 3-12) and Cole Oleson (high jump, 1.68m, long jump, 5.59m).

GIRLS TRACK

Indian Creek meet: At Indian Creek, Newark finished first with 102 points, while the host Timberwolves were second (63). Earlville and Yorkville Christian had 15 and 2 points, respectively.

Indian Creek’s Reagan Gibson won the pole vault, clearing a school-record 3.05 meters.

IC received other wins from Jolee Larson (3,200-meter run, 12:42.93), Caroline Bend (1,600 run, 5:47.43), Jill Shotsberger (200, 28.28), Caroline Bend (800, 2:35.10), Brooke Probst (high jump, 1-57m). Jill Shotsberger (100) and Kaitlyn Frazier (hurdles) had runner-up efforts, as did Bend (pole vault).
