High school sports roundup for Thursday, April 8

Drew Gaston had a hat trick and an assist to lead the undefeated Indian Creek boys soccer team to a 7-2 win over host Newark-Seneca on Thursday, clinching the Timberwolves’ first Little Ten Conference championship.

Brennen McNally added two goals and an assist for IC (10-0-1, 6-0). Colton Headon and Mason Gauger also scored in the win. Grant Schlorff earned a pair of assists, and Davis Stryker and Aidan Sawyer had assists as well. Logan Bend had five saves in goal.

Genoa-Kingston 6, Oregon 0: At Oregon, Junior Leon scored a hat trick, and Eagan Reams added two scores in the Big Northern Conference match.

Alejo Pacheco had a goal and an assist for GK (5-5-1). Diego Espinoza also dished out an assist, and Aaron Acosta earned the shutout in goal.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Indian Creek 2, Yorkville Christian 0: At Indian Creek, Trysta Foster had six kills, nine digs and five aces in the Timberwolves’ 25-11, 25-11 victory.

Indian Creek improved to 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the Little Ten. Clara Hulthen lofted 15 assists for the Timberwolves, Kaitlyn Frazier had three aces and nine digs, Audrey Witte tallied eight digs and five kills, and Leah DeClue contributed three aces and eight digs.

Kaneland 2, Rochelle 0: At Kaneland, the Knights won, 25-16, 25-15, to improve to 9-0 overall and 8-0 in the Interstate Eight Conference.

Genoa-Kingston 2, Oregon 1: At Oregon, the Cogs rallied for a 27-29, 25-18, 25-20 win in BNC play as Lily Mueller blasted 16 kills.

Alayna Pierce tallied six kills, eight digs, three aces and two blocks, Madi Peters dished out 14 assists, and Alivia Keegan had nine kills and three blocks for GK (9-2, 5-2).
