DeKalb County COVID-19 report: 60 more fully vaccinated, 16 more cases

Regional case positivity rate rises to 5.2%, hospitalizations trend upward

DeKALB – DeKalb County added 60 more residents to its fully vaccinated total Thursday, and local health officials reported 16 more cases of COVID-19.

The new cases bring the total virus case count to 10,629, according to the DeKalb County Health Department. The death toll remained at 122, with no new deaths.

According to Illinois Department of Public Health data, 93,832 total vaccine doses have been administered to DeKalb County residents, and 45,588 residents, or 43.77% of the county’s population of 104,143, have been fully vaccinated.

The seven-day rolling average of doses administered to county residents is at 158, with 1,140 doses of total reported inventory – 698 at the health department and 442 at community partners, according to state numbers. The inventory numbers are according to state health officials and might differ from local numbers, DeKalb County health officials said.

The seven-day rolling positivity rate for Region 1, which runs north to Rockford and west to the Iowa border, is 5.2%. The county positivity rate is at 2.7%. Positivity rates are reported with a three-day data lag. Region 1 also reports a seven-day average of 38 COVID-19 patients hospitalized.

By the numbers

No new cases were reported at Heritage Woods in DeKalb Thursday, leaving the outbreak count at 12, including 11 residents and one employee. It’s the only active long-term care facility in outbreak mode, according to the county health department.

Of the new cases reported countywide, three were in residents 19 or younger, six in their 20s, one in their 30s, two in their 40s, one in their 50s, one in their 60s, one in their 70s and one in their 80s or older.

In total, there have been 1,934 cases in DeKalb County residents age 19 or younger, 2,606 in their 20s, 1,599 in their 30s, 1,437 in their 40s, 1,298 in their 50s, 865 in their 60s, 464 in their 70s and 426 in their 80s or older.

Of the 122 deaths reported in DeKalb County, 71 were in residents in their 80s or older, 19 were in their 70s, 18 in their 60s, eight in their 50s, three in their 40s, one in their 30s, one in their 20s and one infant.

According to county data, there have been between 4,731 and 4,735 cases in DeKalb, 2,101 and 2,105 cases in Sycamore, 906 and 910 in Sandwich and Plano (listed as one region on the site), 836 and 840 in Genoa, 246 and 250 cases in Kingston, 481 and 485 cases in Cortland, 256 and 260 cases in Hinckley, 251 and 255 in Kirkland, 206 and 210 cases in Somonauk, 146 and 150 in Waterman, 131 and 135 in Malta, 121 and 125 in Shabbona, 96 and 100 in Maple Park, 26 and 30 in Earlville, 21 and 25 in Clare, 11 and 15 in Leland, 16 to 20 in Esmond, and six and 10 in Lee. Marengo, Hampshire and Rochelle each report between one and five cases.

The IDPH reported that 1,433,313 people in Illinois have tested positive for COVID-19, while 23,490 people have died statewide. The department reported that 27,119,503 tests have been administered to date.

According to testing and recovery data released by the county every Friday, 10,323 DeKalb County residents have fully recovered as of July 30, and 171,785 tests of county residents have been completed.
