DeKALB — DeKalb County reported four new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday and added 93 more residents to its fully vaccinated total in crossing the 40% plateau for fully vaccinated county residents.
The new cases bring the total virus case count to 10,360, according to the DeKalb County Health Department. No new deaths were reported, leaving the death toll at 120.
According to Illinois Department of Public Health data, 87,079 total vaccine doses have been administered to DeKalb County residents and 42,133 residents, or 40.4% of the county’s population of 104,143, have been fully vaccinated.
The seven-day rolling average of doses administered to county residents is at 231, with 2,187 doses of total reported inventory, 1,817 at the health department and 370 at community partners, according to state numbers. The inventory numbers are according to state health officials, and might differ from local numbers, DeKalb County health officials said.
The seven-day rolling positivity rate for Region 1, which runs north to Rockford and west to the Iowa border, is 1.8%. The county positivity rate is at 2.1%. Positivity rates are reported with a three-day data lag. Region 1 also reports a seven-day average of 30 COVID-19 patients hospitalized.
By the numbers
One local long-term facility is still battling the virus.
Lincolnshire Place in Sycamore reports one case each in a resident and employee. It’s unknown how many of those cases have fully recovered.
Of the four new cases reported countywide, three were residents in their 20s and one in their 40s.
In total, there have been 1,875 cases in DeKalb County residents age 19 or younger, 2,539 in their 20s, 1,552 in their 30s, 1,404 in their 40s, 1,271 in their 50s, 852 in their 60s, 453 in their 70s and 414 in their 80s or older.
Of the 120 deaths reported in DeKalb County, 70 were in residents in their 80s or older, 18 were in their 70s, 18 in their 60s, eight in their 50s, three in their 40s, one in their 30s, one in their 20s and one infant.
According to county data, DeKalb has seen between 4,626 and 4,630 cases, 2,056 and 2,060 cases in Sycamore, 891 and 895 in Sandwich and Plano (listed as one region on the site), 811 and 815 in Genoa, 226 to 230 cases in Kingston, 466 and 470 cases in Cortland, 251 and 255 cases in Hinckley, 246 and 250 in Kirkland, 196 and 200 cases in Somonauk, 136 and 140 in Waterman, 131 and 135 in Malta, 116 and 120 in Shabbona, 91 and 95 in Maple Park, 21 and 25 in Clare and Earlville, 11 and 15 in Leland, 16 to 20 in Esmond, and six and 10 in Lee. Marengo and Rochelle each report between one and five cases.
The IDPH reported 1,389,634 people in Illinois have tested positive for COVID-19, while 23,165 people have died statewide. The department reported 25,491,706 tests have been administered to date.
According to testing and recovery data released by the county every Friday, 9,782 DeKalb County residents have fully recovered as of June 18 and 164,653 county residents have been tested.
