5 things to do in DeKalb County: Cruisin to Genoa, dog show in Sandwich, Happy Together Tour at Egyptian Theatre and more

1. Cruisin’ to Genoa Car Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in downtown Genoa.

Come on out to Genoa for the 7th annual Cruisin’ to Genoa Car Show, where more than 30 trophies will be awarded at the showcase which will display cars, motorcycles and trucks.

2. Midwest Jack Russell Terrier Dog Show at the Sandwich Fair Grounds on Saturday and Sunday at 1401 Suydam Road in Sandwich.

The show is hosted by the Midwest Jack Russell Terrier Club, an affiliate of the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America. The event will feature eight sanctioned divisions plus a barn hunt, brush hunt, lure coursing, trailing, location and a TNT tunnel.

3. Happy Together Tour at Egyptian Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Friday

This marks the 12th year of the highly successful, hit-filled summer package tour Happy Together. The touring sensation that has crisscrossed the nation delighting audiences for a decade returns this summer with a show full of chart-topping hits from the ‘60s and ‘70s – Undeniable Forty solid gold smashes. The tour is once again headlined by The Turtles, who also act as musical hosts for the evening. Supporting The Turtles will be Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, The Association, Classics IV, The Vogues and The Cowsills.

4. Jazz in Progress 8th Swingin’ at the Band Shell at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday

Come out to the 8th annual live jazz band concert by Jazz in Progress, a local jazz ensemble, at the Dee Palmer Band Shell in Hopkins Park, 1403 Sycamore Road in DeKalb.

5. Virtual Spine Crackers Book Club for fourth through seventh graders at 10 a.m. Saturday

This virtual book club held via Zoom is for those in fourth through seventh grade, to discuss a book each month and is part of programming put on by the DeKalb Public Library.
