Here’s where each health region in northern Illinois stands as of Wednesday

IDPH reports 7,569 new cases of COVID-19, 139 additional deaths

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 7,569 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 139 additional deaths Wednesday.

The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate decreased from 8.5% to 8.4%. The state received the results of 80,974 COVID-19 tests in the 24 hours leading up to Wednesday afternoon.

Illinois has seen 999,288 total cases of the virus, and 17,096 people have died. The state has conducted a total of 13,698,428 tests since the start of the pandemic.

As of late Tuesday, Illinois had 3,928 COVID-19 patients in the hospital. Of those, 812 were in intensive care units, and 451 were on ventilators.

Regional update: Currently, all 11 of the state’s health regions are under additional mitigation measures from the IDPH, and as of Nov. 20, all 11 regions are under Tier 3 mitigations.

Regional data from the IDPH remains on a three-day lag.

The North Suburban region (McHenry and Lake counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under 12% for its COVID-19 test positivity rate. The region’s positivity rate increased to 10.4%. Currently, 14.3% of medical/surgical beds are available and 24.5% of ICU beds.

The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and seven consecutive days under the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Within this region, McHenry County’s seven-day positivity rate average increased to 13.6%. Lake County, which does about two-thirds of the testing in the region, is reporting a rolling average of 9.2%.

Hospitalizations have decreased five out of the past 10 days in this region.

Finally, within the Lake/McHenry region, there are 44 available, staffed ICU beds out of 188 total, and 232 ventilators available out of 295.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 10.4%. Currently, 19.5% of medical/surgical beds are available and 25.2% of ICU beds.

The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and one day under the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 11.9%, and DuPage County is at 9.6%.

Hospitalizations have decreased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

Finally, within the DuPage/Kane region, there are 67 available, staffed ICU beds out of 324 total and 362 ventilators available out of 579.

The South Suburban region (Will and Kankakee counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate increased slightly to 11%. Currently, 22.8% of medical/surgical beds are available and 28.4% of ICU beds.

The region has six consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Hospitalizations have decreased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

Finally, within the Will/Kankakee region, there are 41 available, staffed ICU beds out of 162 total, and 93 ventilators out of 139 available.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under the 12% positivity rate. The region’s positivity rate remained the same at 10.5%. Currently, 24.6% of medical/surgical beds are available and 29.4% of ICU beds.

The region has 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Hospitalizations have decreased eight out of the past 10 days in this region.

Within this region, DeKalb County’s positivity rate decreased to 13.4%, Lee County’s rate decreased to 3%, and Whiteside County’s rate decreased to 12%.

Finally, within this region, there are 48 available, staffed ICU beds out of 179 total, and 240 ventilators out of 343 available.

The North-Central region (Bureau, Fulton, Grundy, Henderson, Henry, Kendall, Knox, La Salle, Livingston, Marshall, McDonough, McLean, Mercer, Peoria, Putnam, Rock Island, Stark, Tazewell, Warren and Woodford counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate increased slightly to 9.6%.

Currently, 25.3% of medical/surgical beds are available and 21.3% of ICU beds.

The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Hospitalizations have decreased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

Within this region, La Salle County’s seven-day positivity rate increased to 6.3%.

Finally, within this region, there are 56 available, staffed ICU beds out of 235 and 377 ventilators out of 489.

Chicago has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 10.2%. Currently, 20.5% of medical/surgical beds are available and 25.6% of ICU beds.

The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and four consecutive days over the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Hospitalizations have decreased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

Suburban Cook County has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate increased slightly to 10%. Currently, 19.7% of medical/surgical beds are available and 22.1% of ICU beds.

The region has five consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and five consecutive days over 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Hospitalizations have decreased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.
