Finalists for 2021 BCR Male Athlete of the Year

Braden Damerell (St. Bede/Sr.)

The Bruins senior signal-caller led the Bruins to a 5-1 season this spring. A Second Team TRAC Mississippi pick, Damerell passed for 721 yards and eight touchdowns and led the Bruins in rushing with 355 yards/3 TDs. In basketball, the Bruins guard garnered BCR Honorable Mention honors. The BCR Second Teamer batted .354 for the baseball Bruins. He will continue his football career at Eureka College.

Grant Foes (Princeton/Sr.)

Foes earned All-State recognition in both football and track. He was a BCR co-Football Player of the Year for the second time and BCR Track Athlete of the Year. With the pandemic shutting down most sports last fall, Foes gave golf a try. He previously played basketball. Foes will continue his football career for Indiana Wesleyan University.

Payton Plym (Hall/Sr.)

Plym was a good pitch man for both the Red Devils basketball and baseball teams. The First Team All-BCR/Second Team TRAC East All-Conference pick was the area leading scorer in basketball, averaging 15.2 ppg. The First Team All-BCRer and First Team TRAC East All-Conference infielder batted .342 with 27 RBIs. He carried a 1.48 ERA with a 3-2 record and 46 strikeouts. Plym will pitch at Black Hawk College.

Jamie Reinhardt (Princeton/Sr.)

A man for all seasons, the BCR Male Athlete of the Year was the only Bureau County athlete to participate in four sports this year. The Tigers point guard was the BCR Player of the Year in basketball, scoring his 1,000th-career point this season. He also played his third year on the Tiger varsity baseball team, was the kicker for the Tigers football team and played golf. He previously played soccer.

Trez Rybarczyk (Hall/Sr.)

Rybarczyk was a standout in basketball and baseball for the Red Devils. The BCR Player of the Year in baseball excelled on the mound (7-1, 0.51, 73 strikeouts), and also put up big numbers at the plate (.500, 12 HR, 44 RBIs). He was First Team All-BCR and unanimous TRAC East All-Conference in basketball, averaging 10.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists. He will be attending Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville and playing baseball.
