Princeton’s Compton, Cihocki shut out Bureau Valley

Ean Compton and Danny Cihocki teamed up for a two-hit, 5-0 shutout over rival Bureau Valley Thursday at Prather Field.

Compton started and fanned 10 Storm batters over five innings, allowing just two hits and walking two.

Cihocki retired all six batters he faced, including two strikeouts.

The Tigers broke the game open in the fourth inning, scoring four runs on three hits. Drew Woolley had a RBI double, Jacob Burns a RBI single, Owen Rossler a sac fly and Cihocki drew a bases-loaded walk to plate the fourth run, making it 5-0.

Hits by Noah Hoffman and Matt Lucas and a throwing error by Bureau Valley led to the Tigers’ first run of the game in the second inning.

The Bureau County rivals will meet Tuesday, May 18 in Manlius, a date originally scheduled for Monday, May 10.
