Getting to know .... Princeton Logan coach Larissa Pinter

Name: Larissa Pinter.

School: Logan Junior High School.

Family: Husband-Greg; two sons-Waylon (5) and Weston (almost 1).

How many years at your school: Eight years.

What sports do you coach: 8th grade girls basketball and assistant track coach.

Do you teach at the school: Yes, 8th grade Physical Education and Health.

What’s the best part of coaching at your school: Getting to build a more personal relationship with the athletes and to see them improve from the beginning of the season to the end.

Why do you coach: I love the interaction and relationship I build with the athletes. It’s different from being their teacher. We get to know each other on a more personal level and I get to see them succeed in something they are passionate about outside of school.

What have been some of your most memorable moments: Almost beating Ottawa Shephard in the 8th grade SRC championship game with this year’s juniors.

Do you have any other previous coaching positions: One year for Malden Grade School, girls basketball and half of a volleyball season.

High school/college you went to: Princeton High School, IVCC and Eastern Illinois University.

Your playing background: I participated in track and field 5th through 8th grade year at Malden Grade School. I started playing basketball my 6th grade year when they started the girls basketball program again and I continued playing basketball all through high school. I played softball from when I started tee-ball at a young age all the way through my high school years. I played volleyball as a 5th grader and continued playing through my sophomore year of high school. I also played intramural basketball, softball, and volleyball at Eastern.
