Mental health support event kicks off this week in LaSalle

Local agencies offer support for teenagers looking for mental health resources

The You Will Be Found Tour kicks off Saturday in LaSalle with a showing of the movie ‘Dear Evan Hansen’.

The event is sponsored by the C5 Rural Network, Arukah Institute, R3, Auditorium Ballroom and Savvy Custom Tees and will be held from 5-9 p.m. at the Auditorium Ballroom at 109 Wright St., LaSalle.

All area teens and their parents are invited to the free event. In addition to the movie screening, sponsors will have food, drinks, trivia, giveaways, free merch and resources available for information for assistance with mental health and substance use issues.

“If you or someone you know are feeling the weight of depression, anxiety or suicidal ideations organizers want you to know you are not alone,” Stephanie Gustafson, Arukah Institute’s Chief Information and Communication Officer said. “Trained staff and information will be available for questions on how to handle a friend or family member in depression or who has voiced concerns about their mental health.”

This week’s event is the start of a tour that will travel throughout LaSalle, Bureau and Putnam Counties.

The tour will make its next stop on Feb. 26 at Midland High School in Varna, followed by events on March 36 at Putnam County High School in Granville, April 23 at the Grace Theatre in Princeton and lastly on May 14 at Hegeler Park in La Salle.
