The Princeton Park District hired Nathan Cook as superintendent of maintenance.

Cook, who succeeds retiring Superintendent Mike Anderson, will begin working at the Bureau County Metro Center, Monday, Nov. 22. Cook will work alongside Anderson until his retirement at the end of the year.

“We interviewed six candidates and the interview process was difficult, we had some very good candidates and enjoyed meeting each one during this process.” said Park Director Tammy Lange. “We are selfishly sad to see Mike retire, however, we really are happy for him to begin this next phase of his life.”

“Nathan is joining a great team of individuals,” said Park District Attorney Bob Russell.

Cook and his wife Emily reside in Princeton with their three children. In his free time he enjoys his backyard chickens, gardening, hunting, attending sporting events and spending time with family. Cook obtained his degree in construction design and management from Parkland College in 2004.

“I am humbled by the opportunity to take over for Mike Anderson in the Maintenance Department and hope to continue the high quality of work he has completed for so many years,” he said.

During its regular meeting, the park board also approved payments in the amount of $37,958. The revenues and expense were reviewed for the month of October and the year to date fund balances were presented for corporate, recreation and the enterprise funds.

“We are continuing to watch our finances each month and I would like to commend all of the department heads for keeping within the budgeted figures,” Lange said. “We know that expenses are rising, we see it every day, whether we are buying rubber gloves and cleaning supplies, purchasing materials for Park Maintenance or paying the Comcast or phone bill. All funds are reviewed and in check as we continue into the 2021-2022 year.”
