Prairie Arts Council in Princeton will present ‘The Mystery of Irma Vep’

Performance set for Oct. 29

PRINCETON — The Prairie Arts Council will present “The Mystery of Irma Vep” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at the Prairie Arts Center, 24 Park Ave. East in Princeton.

Join Jeff Sudakov, Dave Roden and the Prairie Arts Council as they turn back the clock and present Charles Ludlam’s “The Mystery of Irma Vep” as a live 1950s British radio melodrama. In a wildly absurd comedy, watch two actors take on nine gothic and hilarious characters who inhabit a mysterious mansion with sinister secrets all while creating thunder, rain, hail, wind and footfalls with the art of beautiful theatrical machines. A feverish spectacle from beginning to end, “The Mystery of Irma Vep” is delightfully campy while ripping with satire, a farce to be reckoned with.

The Prairie Arts Center programming is funded in part by grants from the Illinois Arts Council and The Princeton Closet.
