LaMoille native announces release of children’s book

Author will host a reading, book signing July 10 at Mendota library

LaMoille native Kimberly Souba is launching a new book “A Caterpillar’s Journey.”

The children’s book is about a caterpillar who desires to be a butterfly and is illustrated by Alaina Selzler of Jamestown, N.D.

After publishing her first book “From Death to New Life: The Transformation of Soul” in November 2020, Souba was inspired by children in her life to think about writing a children’s book. “A Caterpillar’s Journey” was written when Souba, an elementary teacher at Tampico Elementary School, was home on a snow day in February. It is based on Souba’s love for butterflies and to help children overcome all the negative thoughts and attitudes that others place on them.

There will be a children’s event 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at Humes-Grave Public Library in Mendota. Souba will read the book to children and there are other planned activities. The event is open to the public and a library card is not required to attend. Souba will be on-hand to sign copies, which also will be available for sale.

The book is available on her website www.ksouba.com and will be listed on Amazon beginning July 1. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Child Abuse Council of the Quad Cities, according to Souba’s website.

“I’m a huge fan of Max Lucado, a Christian author who provides themes in children’s books for people of all ages,” Souba said. “It does not matter if you are 4 or 94, everyone will get something different out of his writings. That is how I want to write my children’s books.”
