Princeton author Jannifer Powelson to attend Dixon book fair

DIXON – The Next Picture Show (TNPS) will host a Book Fair Saturday, June 19, 11 a.m to 3 p.m. at The Next Picture Show Community Fine Arts Center, 113 W. 1st Street. 

The event is free and open to the public. Almost 30 authors from across northern Illinois will be on hand to offer a wide variety of books for children, young adults and adults including mysteries, science fiction, art history, crime, romance, recipes, picture books, spiritual, biography, poetry and more.

Author Jannifer Powelson of Princeton, who wrote, ‘Rachel & Sammy visit the Forest,’ will be in attendance.

Lu Clifton, of Davis, has written both adult and children’s books including ‘Freaky Fast Frankie Joe’, awarded a Friends of American Writers Award in 2013. Her ‘Seeking Cassandra’ received the 2017 Oklahoma Writers Award for Young Adults.

The Fair will also feature twenty-seven other book authors (Debra R. Boyrs, J.L. Callison, Kay Clark, Holly Coop, Judy Dixon, Diana S. Estell, Robert Glaser, Cindy Huff, Laura S. Kearney, Joyce Kocinski, Lindsay Lake, Kathryn Lentz, Bob & Coleen Logsdon, Beth Simeone, R. Michael Markley, Kay Mays, Amanda McNeil, N. Thomas Padilla, Georgann Prochaska, David Ramacitti, Colleen H. Robbins, Jeanne Roppolo, Judy Schmidt, Kim Sigafus, Jean-Michel Smith and Christine Todd.

One of TNPS goals is to expand the cultural impact in our community by promoting the importance of reading and fostering a life-long companionship with books.
