Princeton kicks off its 2021 street program: Here’s what’s on the list

PRINCETON — Princeton’s 2021 street improvement program is underway for the season and the street department certainly has its work cut out for them this year.

The list is comprised of 12 street projects, plus many miles worth of curb, gutter and sidewalk repairs.

The city is set to spend $741,623.13 on the improvements this budget year. Of that expense, $350,303.34 will be funded by monies collected from the city’s street improvement program funded by sales tax; $240,098.03 will be funded by the Rebuild Illinois state infrastructure improvement program; and the remaining $151,221.76 will be paid for by Motor Fuel Tax monies.

Here’s a breakdown of the projects:

• Resurfacing Autumn Ridge Court — with a total cost of $38,787.44.

• Resurfacing Church Street — from Elm Place to the railroad on the north end of town — with a total cost of $24,498.

• Resurfacing Thompson Street — from Main Street to Fifth Street — with a total cost of $135,398.32.

• Resurfacing Thompson Street — from Fifth Street to Sixth Street — with a total cost of $80,562.67.

• Resurfacing Sixth Street — Thompson Street to Route 26 — with a total cost of $11,390.13.

• Resurfacing Longhaven Street — from Mercer Street to Cherry Street — with a total cost of $33,058.44.

• Resurfacing Vernon Street — from B Street to Elm Place — with a total cost of $13,625.60.

• Resurfacing B Street — from Route 26 to Church Street — with a total cost of $23,349.77.

• Resurfacing Randolph Street — from Central Avenue to Franklin Street — with a total cost of $112,031.79.

• Resurfacing Chestnut Street — from Central Avenue to Clark Street — with a total cost of $136,235.82.

• Resurfacing Vernon Street — from Elm Place to LaSalle Street — with a total cost of $18,224.21.

• Resurfacing the alleyway behind Barrel Society — between Long and Marquette streets — with a total cost of $5,966.76.

• The cost for materials to repair curbs within the city totals $35,000.
