The following cases were considered by the Bureau County grand jury on April 12.
Gustavo A. Ramirez, 27, of Peru, was indicted for two counts of the Class 3 felony offense of aggravated battery and one count of the Class 4 felony offense of mob action. He is charged with committing a battery in a public place of accommodation and causing bodily harm to two people by punching the victims in the face with his fist. He is further charged by using force, disturbing the peace, while acting together with two other individuals and striking the alleged victims about the face and body inflicting injures to both. An officer from the Spring Valley Police Department testified before the grand jury. The defendant is free from custody after posting bond in the amount of $30,000, 10% to apply.
Terry L. Shelton, 30, of Lockport, was indicted for the Class 2 felony offense of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and the Class 4 felony offense of unlawful possession of a controlled substance (cocaine). He is a convicted felon and was in possession of a firearm. He also possessed less than 15 grams of cocaine. An Illinois State Police trooper testified before the grand jury. The defendant is free from custody after posting bond in the amount of $50,000, 10% to apply.
Stephanie M. Pierce, 30, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was indicted for the Class X felony offense of unlawful possession with intent to deliver controlled substance (cocaine). She was in possession of more than 400 grams of cocaine. An Illinois State Police trooper testified before the grand jury. The defendant is free from custody after posting bond in the amount of $50,000, 10% to apply.
Lonzie Lee Rattler 30, of Flint, Mich., was indicted for the Class 2 felony offense of unlawful possession with intent to deliver cannabis. He is accused of possessing with the intent to deliver more than 500 grams of cannabis. An Illinois State Police trooper testified before the grand jury. The defendant is free from custody after posting bond in the amount of $30,000, 10% to apply.
Sinead D. Jones, 29, homeless, was indicted for the Class 2 felony offense of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and the Class 4 felony offense of unlawful possession of a controlled substance (cocaine). She is a convicted felon and was in possession of a firearm. She also possessed less than 15 grams of cocaine. A Spring Valley officer testified before the grand jury. The defendant is in custody of the Bureau County Sheriff’s Department with bond set in the amount of $75,000, 10% to apply.
Joseph E. Irizzary 24, of Bronx, N.Y., was indicted for the Class 2 felony offense of unlawful possession with intent to deliver cannabis. He is accused of possessing with the intent to deliver more than 500 grams of cannabis. An Illinois State Police trooper testified before the grand jury. The defendant is in custody of the Bureau County Sheriff’s Department with bond set in the amount of $30,000.00, 10% to apply.
These indictments were presented to the grand jury by Bureau County State’s Attorney Geno Caffarini, First Assistant State’s Attorney Thomas Briddick and Assistant State’s Attorney Daniel Anderson. The indictments on Ramirez, Rattler and Irizarry were returned before Judge Marc Bernabei; the indictments on Shelton, Pierce and Jones were returned before Judge Andreoni. There were six suppressed cases.
