Perry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will award 5 $1,000 scholarships to Bureau County students

PRINCETON — The Perry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary announces the open application acceptance for the 2021 Abbie Jean Gunning Memorial Scholarship and Harold Morine Scholarship. The Auxiliary announced a total of three Abbie Jean Gunning and two Harold Morine Scholarship of $1,000 each will be awarded this year.

Abbie Jean Gunning was the first Auxiliary president. The Harold Morine Scholarship is an award bequeathed by Harold Morine in memory of his wife, Marilyn Morine, who was a nurse at Perry Memorial Hospital.

Scholarships are available to recent high school graduates and advance degree candidates who have a permanent Bureau County residence. Students must be pursuing healthcare career options related to hospital, clinical work including (but not limited to) nursing, radiology, lab technology, respiratory therapy, physical or occupational therapy and pre-med.

Applicants must prove a demonstration of academic achievement accompanied by high school or college transcripts, volunteer or work history and health-related activities. Applicants must be planning to attend a post-secondary institution for a health career field of study.
