Hall High School Board approves new stadium lighting

SPRING VALLEY — Hall High School is getting new stadium lighting before the fall football season kicks off later this year.

During a special meeting on Tuesday, the board approved a $385,000 option that includes moving electrical wiring underground and changing to LED lighting. The project will use existing poles in the stadium.

An option to replace the poles was discussed, but ultimately the board felt it could not justify the expense. New poles would have bumped up the cost of the project to $644,614.

Superintendent Jesse Brandt said, “As much as I would like to see new poles, I don’t think they are worth $250,000.”

Board member Jack Boroski said the money that the poles would cost would be better spent on improving the field in the future.

In other news, the board:

• Held a hearing on a proposed ban of a community member from attending school events for a period of at least one year. The board dismissed the ban with stipulations.

• Approved the hiring of Gianna Baracani as a life skills aide for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year.
