Princeton student wins Wyanet VFW essay contest; places 2nd in district

Local eighth-grade student also awarded 2nd in District Competition

Corwin Murray of Princeton was the winner of the Wyanet VFW Post 6634 Patriot’s Pen Contest.

Murray was awarded a $50 prize for his essay entry that also was judged in the VFW Ninth District contest for which he was awarded second place.

Murray was presented with a certificate and $75 prize money by Pat O’Neill, VFW Ninth District Patriot’s Pen director.

Murray is an eighth grade student at Rainbow Christian Academy in Princeton.

The Patriot’s Pen contest is conducted nationwide and is a VFW sponsored youth essay contest for sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. Students must write an essay expressing their views on an annual patriotic theme. This year’s theme is “How Can I be a Good American?”
