Spring Valley woman sentenced to prison for cocaine possession

Charge stems from incident April 10

PRINCETON — A Spring Valley woman is headed to prison on for possessing cocaine.

Sinead D. Jones, 29, was sentenced by Judge James Andreoni to 4 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a class 4 felony.

The charge stems from an incident April 10 in which Spring Valley police were dispatched to a residence for a complaint about Jones.

Upon arrival officers found Jones in her vehicle and observed a metal object believed to be used to smoke crack, on the front seat of the vehicle. Police confirmed Jones was a convicted felon and on mandatory supervised release. A search of the vehicle was conducted and located in a gray wicker basket in the vehicle and with Jones was a substance that was confirmed positive for cocaine.

First Assistant State’s Attorney Tom Briddick prosecuted the case. Jones was represented by Public Defender Ray Nolasco.
