Princeton man sentenced to prison for theft

PRINCETON — A Princeton man is headed to prison for one year for felony retail theft.

Marc E. Philhower, 38, was sentenced by Judge C.J. Hollerich to a year in prison for Class 4 felony theft/subsequent offense.

On July 12, 2019, Philhower was observed scanning items through self-checkout at Walmart and concealing items as he scanned. He was stopped by loss prevention, at which time he ran from the premises. He was later apprehended by Princeton Police and found to have stolen approximately $28 worth of merchandise.

Philhower was prosecuted by First Assistant State’s Attorney Tom Briddick. He was represented by Public Defender Ray Nolasco.

Philhower was previously convicted of retail theft in Bureau County in 2018.
