Princeton sending wrestler to state, SBA has two fall in ‘blood round’

SANDWICH - Princeton is sending one wrestler to the IWCOA state wrestling finals out of Saturday’s Sandwich Sectional.

Matthew Harris booked his trip to Springfield after scoring a tech fall in the sectional quarterfinal at 126 pounds over Lena-Winslow’s Carson McPeek, then picking up a 7-6 decision in the semifinal over Seneca’s Owen Feiner.

However Harris’ bid for a sectional crown was stopped by Sandwich’s Evan Reilly with a pin in 1:38.

At 152 pounds, St. Bede’s James Sanchez picked up a win over Sherrard’s Dylan Russell before falling in the semifinal to West Carroll’s Kelden McCombie 6-4. He landed in the “blood round“ against Yorkville Christian’s Drew Torza, falling 7-2.

Ethan Fleming of St. Bede reached the blood round at 182, but lost to Seneca’s Gavin Robertson on a pin in 3:06.
