Princeton receives vote in 2A boys

Area teams continue to receive recognition in the latest the Associated Press high school basketball rankings.

Amboy received seven of nine first-place votes and a total of 88 points in this week’s 1A girls poll to remain No. 1, with Eastland garnering 76 points at No. 2. They split their two games last week, each winning on its home court.

The Rams of the Three Rivers Conference’s Riverdale (7-0) remain No. 1 in 2A girls. Seneca was No. 9 while Sherrard (9) and Fieldcrest (3) received votes.

Geneseo is ranked No. 8 in the 3A girls and Dixon is receiving votes (2).

Fieldcrest (13), Princeton (2) and Newman (1) all received votes in the 2A boys poll. Rockford Lutheran took over as No. 1 in 2A.

Yorkville Christian remains No. 1 in 1A with a lot of local conference flavor behind it. Indian Creek (11-2) is No. 2, Roanoke-Benson (11-2) No. 4, Wethersfield (11) is No. 5, and Fulton (9-0) is No. 9 while Newark received five votes.
