There are new leaders in this week’s AP 1A and 2A boys polls

There was a shift atop the 1A and 2A boys rankings in this week’s AP prep basketball polls.

Scales Mound (20-1) flipped spots with Yorkville Christian (12-12) to take over the top spot in 1A, receiving five first-place votes and 113 points to Yorkville’s 7/102.

A former Three Rivers member, Fulton, remained at No. 3 in 1A with 78 points while Midland, from the Tri-County Conference, just missed the top 10 with 25 votes. The Little Ten’s Somonauk received four votes.

Chicago Leo (13-3) moved up from No. 2 to No. 1 in 2A with 11 of 13 first-place votes and 126 points while last week’s leader, Nashville (18-4) fell to No. 8 with 47 points.

Two Three Rivers Conference teams, Riverdale (3) and Rockridge (2) received votes in 2A.

Geneseo (25-0) stayed on top the 3A girls poll with 9 of 10 first-place votes and 99 points.

Quincy Notre Dame (19-1) overtook Winnebago (23-2) for the top spot in 2A girls. Notre Dame received five first-place votes to Winnebago’s six, but edged the Indians 104-101 in points.

Fieldcrest (23-1) stayed at No. 7 with Princeton getting back in the hunt with one vote, joined by Three Rivers rivals Sherrard (2) and Rockridge (1).

Serena climbed two spots to No. 5 in 1A girls with Morrison receiving one vote. Okawville (106) remains No. 1.
