Princeton, Newman square off for TRAC East title

Newman rests all alone atop the Three Rivers East Conference volleyball standings. Princeton would like a piece of the pie. They will battle it out tonight in Sterling for first place.

Newman (23-4-2) is undefeated in 11 conference matches, the Tigresses (27-5-2) stand 10-1. Newman would win the conference championship outright with a win while the Tigresses can create a first-place tie atop the standings with a win.

Newman has beat Princeton twice this season, with matches at Princeton 25-23, 25-20 on Sept. 16 as well as in tournament play at Rock Falls on Sept. 4 25-20, 30-28.

The match will be streamed by the NFHS Network starting with the freshmen and sophomores at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity approximately at 6 p.m. Newman requires a mobile ticket purchased in advance prior to arriving, available on its website.

View from the West: Things could get interesting in the Three Rivers West where three teams are still in the running for the title. Sherrard leads the West at 10-1, hosting Monmouth-Roseville (9-2) tonight. The Titans could created a three-way tie with Rockridge at 10-2 with a win over the Tigers.
