Bureau Valley to host Dale Donner Invite Saturday

Bureau Valley is bringing back the Dale Donner Invitational cross country meet in Walnut Saturday after canceling the event last year due to the pandemic.

The Storm’s No. 1 runner, junior Elijah House, said he wants to make the meet’s namesake, retired longtime BV coach Dale Donner, “proud.”

There are 31 returning teams, including locals Amboy-LaMoille-Ohio, Annawan-Wethersfield, Bureau Valley, Hall, Kewanee, Mendota, Princeton, Putnam County and St. Bede.

They will be joined by newcomers LaSalle-Peru, Polo and West Carroll.

The meet starts with the F/S boys at 9:30 a.m., the varsity girls at 10 a.m. and varsity boys at 10:30 a.m.
