A Putnam County woman in her 70s died from complications related to COVID-19.

Her death is the second in Putnam County and the 87th in the Bureau, Putnam and Marshall County Health Department service area. Bureau County has had 72 COVID-related deaths and Marshall County has had 13.

As of Monday night, 3,001 persons in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19, said Bureau, Putnam and Marshall County Health Department Administrator Hector Gomez. Of those, 608 patients were in the ICU and 320 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

There were four new COVID-19 cases in Bureau County, three new cases in Putnam and three new cases in Marshall.

“Despite the progress of the COVID-19 vaccination process, we continue to need everyone’s cooperation in order to further reduce the spread of this disease until medical interventions become widely available,” he said. “The only way to accomplish that is to follow the guidelines.”

Gomez advised to stay at home whenever possible and, when you must go out, make sure that you social distance and wear a face mask, especially when distancing is not possible.

Of Bureau County residents, 2,187 doses of the vaccine have been administered and 340 people (1% of the county’s population) fully vaccinated. In Putnam County, 412 doses of the vaccine have been administered and 52 (0.9% of the population) fully vaccinated. And in Marshall County, 1,075 doses of the vaccine have been administered and 179 people (1.5% of the population) fully vaccinated.
