Elburn officials confirm Amazon film crew shoot on July 16

Elburn officials confirmed that Amazon film crews are coming to town to shoot a scene for the streaming service’s new series “Paper Girls.”

According to a post on the village’s Facebook page, the shoot will happen at the intersection of Third and Willow streets on Friday, July 16, from sunset until about 1:30 a.m. July 17.

Setting up for the shoot will begin July 15, and cleanup will be July 17. Detours will be in place during the filming, and residents may experience a delay getting to their homes during filming, the post stated, as the streets will be blocked off.

Amazon is filming scenes in several Chicago-area cities. For more information or to sign up for email alerts about the shoot, visit www.papergirlscouts.com.

“Paper Girls” is based on the science fiction comic book series of the same name by Brian K. Vaughan, and is set in a fictional Cleveland suburb called Stony Stream.

This isn’t the first time Elburn has been featured in a national TV series. HBO’s limited series “Lovecraft Country” was filmed in downtown Elburn in 2018. The series premiered on the cable channel last August.

John Nevenhoven, Elburn village administrator, said the shoot is “exciting” for Elburn.

“The filming will not be as extensive as the ‘Lovecraft Country’ filming in 2018, but it is still pretty exciting,” he said in an email.
