Raue Center’s Arts on the Green series to continue with Corky Siegel and Ernie Watts

The Raue Center for the Arts continues its new outdoor summer series this month and next with Corky Siegel performing with Ernie Watts this Saturday, Aug. 7.

Called Arts on the Green, the new series offers blues, jazz, rock and Shakespeare outside at Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church, 210 McHenry Ave in Crystal Lake.

“Adding an outdoor summer venue for performing arts has been achieved for Raue Center through a partnership with St. Mary’s Episcopal Church,” Raue Center Executive Director Richard Kuranda said in a statement. “The Rev. Fran Holliday and Deacon Mike Choquette focus on building community. Their leadership embraced our request to host Arts on the Green where Raue Center stars will perform under the stars.”

Space is limited, so advance ticket purchase is recommended. Attendees can bring their own refreshments.

This Saturday’s performance starts at 7 p.m.

Siegel is known internationally as one of the world’s great blues harmonica players, blues pianist, and singer/songwriters, according to a news release. He’s a composer of “award-winning revolutionary works that weave blues and classical forms together for an unforgettable night of music.”

Siegel has worked alongside legendary first-generation bluesmen like Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Willie Dixon, Little Walter, and Otis Spann. He will be joined Saturday night by two-time Grammy winner and tenor saxophonist Ernie Watts.

Next in the lineup will be the Petty Kings, a tribute to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, on Aug. 21, followed by “Late Summer Night’s Shakespeare,” which features a cast of Raue Center actors and performers as they perform selected scenes and monologues Sept. 4 and 11.

Ticket prices start at $20, and RaueNow member prices start at $14.
