Steepwater Band among artists to rock The Venue music stage

The Steepwater Band will star at 8 p.m. Friday, March 18.

The Venue, the popular music performance space in downtown Aurora, highlights upcoming shows.

Irish Mystics will bring Celtic music and a St. Patrick’s Day celebration at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 17. Sean David Glen, Jim “Chevy” Chevalier and Rich Van Ham have been making music for over 20 years in Fox Valley’s own Empty Can Band. Dave’s interest in Irish music led him to form a new group, Irish Mystics, along with fiddler phenomenon Andy Masters, a news release stated. All proceeds will benefit The Venue. Premium seating costs $15, and general admission $20. All ticket prices increase by $5 at the door.

The Steepwater Band promises real rock ’n’ roll at 8 p.m. Friday, March 18. Influences include Neil Young, ZZ Top, The Allman Brothers and a bevy of other classic rock acts. Steepwater has opened for such acts as Boston and REO Speedwagon, touring all over the U.S., and enjoying a large following in Spain. The Steepwater Band also participated in “The Leland Bluebird Sessions Volume 1.” General admission costs $17.

The Pete Ellman Jazz Big Band will continue its weekly residency series on Tuesday, March 22. The opening set will feature Fenton High School musicians followed by the headliner. General admission costs $5. The series is sponsored by the Fox Valley Music Foundation.

Upcoming artists include The Western Elstons on March 25, and Deacon Blues performing the music of Steely Dan on March 26.
