Raue’s Arts on the Green outdoor series entertains through September

Philip Hamilton will take the outdoor stage with his latest acoustic project Saturday, Aug. 28, as part of the Raue Center for the Arts’ Arts on the Green at Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church.

The concert series, which takes place outside the church at 210 McHenry Ave. in Crystal Lake, continues into September with two more performances: 7 p.m. Sept. 4 and 11 – by Raue Center’s in-house professional theater company, Williams Street Rep, featuring scenes and monologues from William Shakespeare.

First up, however, is Hamilton, who will perform jazz, pop and R&B classics such as Sting’s “Fragile,” The Beatles’ “Blackbird” and Nat King Cole’s “Route 66,” according to a news release.

Hamilton will be joined by veteran acoustic bassist Lonnie Plaxico, adding an extra layer of swing. Also, guitarist Spiros Exaras will be on hand to add his “fiery blend of rock, soul and jazz,” the release stated.

Tickets cost $20 for adults, and $8 for children, and can be bought online at rauecenter.org or via the box office at 815-356-9212 or 26 N. Williams St. in downtown Crystal Lake. RaueNOW members receive a discount on ticket prices and can purchase tickets early.

Space is limited and patrons can bring refreshments to enjoy, according to the release.
