Batavia VFW to host mini parade for Loyalty Day activities, plus live music by The Wayouts

The Batavia VFW will celebrate Loyalty Day on Saturday, May 1, with a parade, live music and fun activities for children and adults.

The riverside Post is at 645 S. River St., Route 25, in Batavia.

The event is a celebration of patriotism and is open to the public, according to a news release from the VFW.

The event will begin with a mini parade that assembles at 12:15 p.m. and steps off at 12:30 p.m. It’s open to all children and their parents (well-mannered dogs can accompany them). The theme for dress and decorations is “My American Freedom,” the release stated.

After the mini parade, there will be games and activities for children and adults. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The Wayouts will entertain from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. The band is popular for what its musicians describe as authentic 1960s garage rock. They will perform songs by The Animals, The Kinks, The Rascals, The Troggs, The Box Tops, The Tremeloes, The Sonics, The Stooges, The Beatles, The Yardbirds, The McCoys, The Monkees and other artists.

See the flyer below for the lineup that opens at 11 a.m. with concessions and a bean bag contest.
